    As she strolls through her local gym, Kyla directs our attention to the long line of men and women on the latest cardio gadgets and says, “Does any of that look like fun to you? Most of them have been bored out of their minds for the last 40 minutes, with no idea they could be doing a funworkout routine which produces dramatically better results in a quarter of the time.” As we glance down the long line of what appear to be cardio robots, we see some very cherry red faces with glazed eyes fixed like glue on a TV monitor overhead, hoping it will somehow make the time go by faster. What they fail to realize is this type of workout routine is not only painfully boring, but it could be keeping them fat.

  • Belly fat dangers go beyond weight scale

    Stepping on a scale doesn’t give the whole picture about your risk of complications from excess belly fat, according to a Statistics Canada study released today. The federal agency looked at the heart, stroke and other health risks of waist circumference within different categories of the body mass index (BMI) for Canadians aged 20 to 69. “This study reveals that abdominal obesity within BMI categories is increasing,” today’s issue of Health Reports concluded. “As a result, Canadians with a given BMI are, on average, at higher risk of obesity-related health conditions than they were in 1981”. The percentage of overweight men at increased or high risk based on waist circumference rose from 49 per cent in 1981 to 62 per cent from 2007 to 2009, according to the report.

    I am Kyla Gagnon and I am with BodyRipped.com. What we have done in the last years we’ve developed this system and right now we’ve just launched called Totality A2X. It’s a 12-week system of info home workouts where there’s not a single piece of equipment needed. Workouts are anywhere between 12 to 18 minutes long and they get the job done. I have taken these workouts and I do my 12 to 18 minutes workouts every day whether I am in a hotel room or lucky enough to be in a beach. Today, I did one of the workouts on a little platform by the pool at the hotel, and I pick four exercises and I set my timer for a minute on and 10 seconds off, and I just ripped through my four exercises three times for 12 minutes and I was sweating and wheezing; that’s how my day started. The good thing about Totality A2X, there’s no excuses and it doesn’t take much time at all. All you need is your body and that’s been amazing.

This is something that takes years of proper training and eating, but don’t give up hope, even if you are just starting out, the process is fun and I think you’ll love it! Things to consider are what size of tooshie YOU find most attractive and would want to work towards, as well as your current size. Personally I had the dream of a big old Brazilian style butt, nice firm and round. I at that point weighed a measly 112 lbs and honestly just didn’t have enough density to my muscle mass in my body as a whole to support the mass of the butt I wanted. My next step…Building more muscle throughout my whole body.

    It is a tough world out there, I totally get it. With information coming at us from all different angles it can be hard to determine what is right and what is wrong when it comes to training properly in the gym.  1. WOMEN CAN LIFT HEAVY AND NOT BULK! I promise you! Pinky swear 100 times over. We simply do not posses the appropriate amount of testosterone to do so. Now I will agree that there are a select few of us who DO naturally gain muscle easier then the majority, but I am talking to the 90% of women who DO NOT. The more lean mass that you can put on your body via resistance training, body weight training and HIIT plyometrics the better your body will be at dropping fat. PERIOD. MUSCLE IS OUR FRIEND! 2. TOO MUCH CARDIO! Walk into any gym, at any time of day or night and you will likely see a row of cardio machines full of women sweating it out for upwards of 90 minutes sometimes, trying to burn off as many calories as possible.

    Carbs, the devil in most eyes. Can we PLEASE clear this up?!  Carbohydrate technically is the term for ALL sugars, including, simple molecule sugars such as fructose (naturally occurring from fruit), double molecule sugars, otherwise known as the actual devil, table sugar and other sugars strung together forming complex carbohydrates such as starch and fi bre. So NO, carbohydrates are NOT the devil, they are NOT to be avoided, they are to be treated very differently, and defi nitely included in your training and nutritional program. Here’s the thing – Physically active or not, our bodies MAIN source of energy comes from carbohydrates, so by refusing them you are asking for your brain and body to perform at less than 100% Seems silly, NO??? The confusion lies mostly in which carbs are considered “good” to eat versus which are “bad”, and how much??

What I fear with this is that too many people put too much pressure on themselves to look a certain way without looking into what THAT reality actually looks like.     Body fat can be one of the most stubborn and toughest things to eliminate from our bodies. Gagnon says if you want to tone down body fat, it starts with your rejigging your diet. For example, losing one pound of fat is equivalent to omitting 3,500 calories from your diet. Depending on how much you eat, and how much you’d like to lose, Gagnon recommends cutting out anywhere from 400 to 700 calories from your daily diet, but never go below 1,200 calories a day. Eating whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables and cutting out excess sugar and fatty foods is a good place to start. Gagnon adds the worst thing you can do is starve your body by eating a small amount of calories, so look for healthy foods that fill you up.
